Chest of drawers
Stag Cabinet Co., c.1962

Six-drawer chest in teak, with circular handles.

A lesser-known design from the Stag Cabinet Co. The elegant yet softer style of this piece characterizes the company's interim period, when they began to move away from the Florence Knoll- and George Nelson-inspired designs of John and Sylvia Reid in the 1950s but before they arrived at their late 'reproduction' style. Stag turned to more traditional furniture designs, subsequently manufactured during the 1960s and 1970s, as the company bought up other contemporaries (Meredew, etc). Stag continued producing their own designs until the company's closure in 1979.
